Uruguayan football player Rodrigo Bentancur fined the English Football Association with seven matches and 100,000 English pounds for a racist statement.
Bentancur, a football player from Tottenham, insultingly touched his teammate, the South Korean player Heung-Min Son, in an interview with a Uruguayan television station during June.
– Sona’s shirt? It could also be his cousin’s jersey, because they all look the same – Bentancur interjected, but he quickly apologized for such words, stressing that everything turned out to be a very bad joke. Then Son emphasized to the English media that there are no problems between him and Bentancur, and that they have a good relationship as before.
However, due to racial insults, the English Football Association (FA) initiated proceedings against the Uruguayan and now, along with a monetary fine, he has been suspended for seven matches in England. The FA added to everything that the Uruguayan’s gameč “seriously violated the rule of conduct of football players”.
In 2022, 27-year-old Bentancur came to Tottenham from Juventus.
