Alpine skiing|Lindsey Vonn is making a comeback after a five-year hiatus.
of the United States alpine skiing legend Lindsey Vonn is returning to the competitive slopes after a five-year hiatus.
The American star’s decision has got a former rival From Michaela Dorfmeister quite blunt criticism.
Dorfmeister sees Vonn’s attention span overriding health and safety consideration.
“Of course he didn’t want to stop in 2019. I think it’s extremely dangerous to come back at the age of 40 and after all the injuries,” Dorfmeister told the Austrian Crown newspaper.
Vonn had a knee replacement seven months ago.
“His artificial knee is not the only problem.”
Vonn, who excelled in speed sports, won no fewer than 82 World Cup races in her career. He also suffered from several injuries.
From prestigious competitions, Vonn has a total of 11 medals, the crown being the Olympic gold from the 2010 skydiving and the World Championship golds from the 2009 skydiving and super giant slalom.
He has recently shared photos on Instagram related to his return, but there is no certainty about the time and exact plans.
In mid-November, Vonn stated her goal to compete in the World Cup this season, possibly as early as December. Vonn also talked about the possibility of competing in the 2026 Winter Olympics.
“I’m happy to be with the US team again. Missed you ladies,” Vonn wrote alongside the photos she shared on Tuesday.
