The words of the protagonists

Berrettini: “I’ve worked all year to be here, and playing with the best player in the world puts a bit of pressure on you and at the same time it’s great, because I know I can count on him. It’s never easy to go down field at 1-1 and we scored a beautiful double, against two specialists. I’m very happy. We have to remember that this is only the first step, we have a long way to go.”

Sinner:“Matteo and I understand each other very well, even off the pitch. He really played an incredible double today. I’m happy that we managed to play a double like this, at 1-1, in a delicate and difficult situation. It’s an honor playing with him, obviously we have many other choices to make on the pitch. Leaving Bolelli and Vavassori out is bad because they had an incredible season. We discussed with the captain and we looked for the best solution for today will go on Saturday.” “Against Australia, like last year but it will be a completely different challenge. We can’t say anything about who will play but we will certainly give 100%.”

Volandri: “We know that Davis is like this, we have to be ready every day to make a final. With this formula, with such a fast pitch, anything can really happen. I have to thank the boys because they were amazing, each one always ready to play the role which is asked of him perfectly. Jannik had not trained or even warmed up here, he had never seen this court before starting to play, and Matteo really played an amazing double. We had tried their doubles yesterday, we had an idea precise enough, but we have to always update after the single. We gathered in the locker room and decided, the boys all agreed.” “The girls did something exceptional yesterday, we still have a lot of work to do. We have only taken one step, there are still many more to do.”
