A nasty scene in the big game of Hammarby, represented by two Helmarie players

Hammarby and Manchester City met in the Champions League.

The European football association Uefa starts an investigation into the events of the women’s Champions League football match between Hammarby and Manchester City. City’s goal scorer in the match played in Stockholm on Thursday night Khadija Shaw’ta was thrown from the Hammarby fans’ stand with a coin.

The coin flew after Shaw went to celebrate his goal in front of the home fans. He received a yellow card for the situation. Jamaican striker Shaw eventually completed both of his team’s goals in a match where City celebrated a 2-1 away win.

Goalkeeper of the Finnish women’s national team Anna Tamminen and defender Eva Nyström were in Hammarby’s opener and played the entire match.

With their win, City secured their place in the quarterfinals. Hammarby has three points and practically lost its chance to continue. There were more than 20,000 spectators at the match.

Inter alia the express- and Aftonbladet magazines reported on UEFA’s investigation on Friday on their website.
