Irish mixed martial arts fighter Conor McGregor must pay almost €250,000 in compensation to a woman who accused him of rape. This was decided by the jury in a civil trial at the High Court in Dublin. The 36-year-old has to pay the woman a total of 248,603 euros.
The plaintiff had accused McGregor of “brutally raping and abusing” her in a hotel room in the Irish capital in December 2018. She sustained injuries and suffered from post-traumatic stress disorder. McGregor testified that the sex was consensual. He announced on Platform X that he wanted to appeal the verdict.

The last fight for McGregor, who is considered one of the biggest stars in the scene, was more than three years ago. A comeback in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) was delayed again this year.
