Ankalaev promises to beat Poatan in the UFC and is already thinking about a rematch

After his victory at UFC 308, Magomed Ankalaev used social media again to provoke Alex Poatan Pereira and has even given a possible date for the light heavyweight title challenge.

Through his profile on X (formerly Twitter), the Russian suggested that the fight be the main event of UFC 313, which will take place on March 9th next year in Las Vegasand guaranteed that he will dethrone the current champion.

This time, however, Ankalaev went further and promised that he would even give the Brazilian a rematch just to beat him again and even provoked former champions Jiri Prochazka and Jamahal Hill.

“I’m going to beat Poatan in March and I’m going to give him a rematch in June and then I’m going to beat one of those bums like Hill and Prochazka in Abu Dhabi in October,” he said.

March is precisely the date that Poatan intends to return to the octagon after carrying out three successful title defenses in less than six months.

Dana White promised a chance to Ankalaev

Magomed Ankalaev saw action on October 26th when he defeated Aleksandar Rakic via unanimous decision after three rounds.

The Russian fulfilled his promise to win the fight without attempting any takedowns against his opponent, as Poatan’s style is striking. After the official result, Magomed told the Brazilian to stop running away from him.

During the press conference after UFC 308, Dana White himself acknowledged Ankalaev’s victory and promised that he will be the next to challenge Pereira’s belt.

But if it depends on the champion himself, however, this fight will take a while to happen. Poatan plans to keep the Russian waiting while he tries to fight Jon Jones for the BMF belt — an idea that Dana has already shown himself completely against.
