Ronaldo confirms his desire to be president of the CBF

Ronaldo is excited about the discussions surrounding his name to assume the presidency of the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) in the coming years.

The former Brazilian national team striker revealed to people close to him that he enjoyed the positive repercussions regarding his intention to take over the entity. The possibility had initially been revealed by the newspaper Sportfrom Spain, and gained strength after public statements at its first charity auction.

“I’ve been talking about my idea of one day being president of the CBF for many years and that hasn’t changed. Let’s wait for the right moment to make that happen. I’m extremely prepared for this moment. Brazilian football needs big changes, but that doesn’t mean anything at all. I’m not a candidate, there’s no election in sight. It’s just my will that hasn’t changed,” said the former player.

Andrés Sanchez, former president of Corinthians and longtime partner of the striker, also commented on the issue during the event. He was one of the guests at the auction, held last Thursday (21), in São Paulo.

“If he is a candidate, he has my full support. If he pays well, the CBF pays well! Corinthians called me a thief and I didn’t win anything, I lost a lot. That’s what Brazilian football is, hypocrisy. If Ronaldo really is a candidate, it’s A great name, he has a broad vision of world football and will help Brazilian football a lot”, said Sanchez.

Newspaper says Ronaldo would like Guardiola in the national team

Spanish newspaper revealed that Ronaldo would like to hire Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola to lead the Brazilian team. The former player, however, avoided commenting on the issue and the English club announced this week the contract extension with the coach until the end of the 2026/2027 season.

“You can’t put the cart in front of the donkey. Let’s see what will happen. I have a lot of ideas in case that happens. I can’t speculate anything now,” said Ronaldo.

The next election for the presidency of the CBF will be in 2025. The term of current president Ednaldo Rodrigues ends in March 2026, a few months before the start of the next World Cup, which will be played in the United States, Mexico and Canada.

Ronaldo started investing in clubs after retiring from football. The Brazilian idol currently owns Real Valladolid, from Spain, and recently sold Cruzeiro’s SAF to Pedro Lourenço.
