Messi’s son Thiago plays against his father’s youth club

The eldest son of Argentine football star Lionel Messi played a game against his prominent father’s youth club. Thiago Messi played in the Inter Miami jersey against Newell’s Old Boys from Messi’s hometown of Rosario. Like his father, he wore the shirt number 10. His mother Antonela Roccuzzo, his brothers Ciro and Mateo and his grandparents watched the U-13 game of the Newell’s Cup from the stands.

Lionel Messi, on the other hand, did not come to his 12-year-old son’s first game for Inter Miami in Argentina. The guests from the USA ultimately had to admit defeat to the team from Rosario 0-1.

In addition to Thiago Messi, Benjamín Suárez, the son of Messi’s close friend and teammate Luis Suárez, also played for Inter Miami. The Newell’s Cup is a youth tournament in which teams from Uruguay and Peru also take part. At the beginning of his career, Messi played in the youth team of Newell’s Old Boys before moving to FC Barcelona at the age of 13.
