Find out who Taila Santos is, a Brazilian who will compete for the belt

Next Friday (29) the final clashes of the 2024 season of the PFLcom Taila Santos competing for the women’s flyweight category belt.

The 31-year-old Brazilian began her MMA career in 2013 and, after five years with an undefeated record, she got a place in the Dana White Contender Series.

Taila faced Estefani Almeida and won on points, with a convincing performance. The UFC president then offered her a contract. But right on her debut, the Santa Catarina native suffered the first defeat of her career, against Mara Romero Borella.

After that, Santos began a streak of four victories, between 2019 and 2021, and won the chance to fight for the flyweight belt at UFC 275in 2022, but ended up losing to then-champion Valentina Shevchenko.

The Brazilian took more than a year to return to the octagon and suffered another defeat, against Erin Blanchfield, and her contract with the UFC ended at the end of 2023.

Taila arrived at the Professional Fight League in April this year and immediately achieved two victories in the regular seasonagainst Ilara Joanne by knockout and against Jena Beshop by split decision.

In the playoffs, the Brazilian faced Liz Carmouche and won by unanimous decision, earning her place in the final of the women’s flyweight division to try, once again, for the first title of her career. To do so, she will have to beat former undefeated champion Dakota Ditcheva.

Where to watch the PFL Finals live

The finals of the 2024 PFL season take place on Friday (29), starting at 11:30 am (Brasília time), with six title fights, including that of Taila Santos.

For the first time in history, the event will take place outside the United States. The fights will be held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, with five clashes on the preliminary card and six on the main card.

The preliminary card, called PFL Mena, will be broadcast live on the Combate channel. From 1:30 pm onwards, SporTV 3 will show the main card. Check out the fights below:
