Mallorca beat Valencia (2-1) this Friday at the start of matchday 15 of LaLiga EA Sports thanks to a header from Abdón Prats in the 81st minute, three points with which the Balearic team placed fifth in the table and prevents the ‘che’ uprising.
Jagoba Arrasate’s men showed the wickers of a team made and with a signature despite the fact that the former Osasuna coach has been on the island for a few months. Mallorca overcame Luis Rioja’s goal from a penalty at half an hour, due to a handball from Johan Mojica, with a well-planned block shot and with clear ideas.
Meanwhile, Valencia did not take long to break down after a good start, with the reward even of the advantage, in a first half that seemed as long as the game. Mallorca scored one with Cyle Larin and, in the second on the verge of half-time, the Canadian scored a great goal by finishing off a Dani Rodríguez cross first.
The play was reviewed by the VAR for a possible offside, but the change of sensations was confirmed on the way to the locker room. The second half was vermilion, with a Mallorca that pressed in the center of the field, stole many balls and arrived with danger with Robert Navarro, Dani and Sergi Darder who was the orchestra director.
Valencia split and Rubén Baraja’s men could not find a way to reach the rival field. When it seemed that the ‘che’ team was showing up or that Mallorca had wasted its moment, Prats’ header arrived, having just entered the field, to show Arrasate, like Larin, that there is life without the suspended Muriqi.
The legendary striker from Artá headed the victory for the locals at the Estadi Mallorca Son Moix after a masterful cross from Darder. Valencia could not stand against a rival with European positions without being able to escape from the red zone or continue their 4-2 win over Real Betis in their return the previous day almost a month after the tragic DANA that affected the Community
In the last actions, with the promotions of José Luis Gayá and with the changes in search of the reaction, the ‘che’ team even had the tie but Dani Gómez was unable to finish off a good cross from his captain in stoppage time. Too much for Valencia, a Mallorca that remains a revelation team fighting in the noble zone.
