NHL: Justus Annunen was traded – will become Juuse Saros’s second goalie

Colorado and Nashville completed a player trade.

NHL club The Colorado Avalanche have traded Justus Annusen to the Nashville Predators. The Finnish goalkeeper is transferred as a package with the reserve shift of the sixth round.

Colorado gets a goalkeeper in exchange Scott Wedgewoodin.

The Avalanche have struggled with their goaltending all season. Annunen and started the season as the number one goalkeeper Alexander Georgiev have both performed moderately.

Georgiev, who earns 3.4 million, would probably have been a more difficult player to trade than Annunen, 24, who earns less than a million.

Wedgewood32, is an experienced league player and has played mainly as a second goalkeeper in several different clubs. This season he was blessed with only five starts Juuse Saros as the second man.

In Colorado, Wedgewood will get a better opportunity for playing time.

Instead, Annus’ role seems to be to be the second man to superstar Saros. It knows much less pace of play than until now. Annunen played 11 games in Colorado’s shirt in the early season, i.e. more than half as many as Wedgewood in the same period.
