Lyon-Nice (4-1): the Riviera club contacts the LFP to arrange exchanges between the referee and the VAR

OGC Nice and its leaders are not giving up: their defeat against Lyon (4-1) this Sunday is marred by refereeing errors. At the end of the match, the Gym’s sports director, Florian Maurice, pointed out several errors, believing that “certain situations were very poorly judged by the referee”.

“By the VAR and the referee, since he was asked to come and see the VAR,” he continued. When we don’t whistle a penalty on Evann Guessand, and we whistle this foul from Rosario beforehand, I find it simply scandalous. »

This Monday, the Riviera club hit the nail on the head in a press release entitled: “how is this possible? » “If the sagacity of the refereeing body will not have been faulted on the clumsy arm of Nandjou punished with a penalty, a whole series of decisions throughout the match have, on the other hand, given rise to incomprehension on the recourse or no to viewing the VAR, we can read. Used to cancel Nice’s first equalizer by returning to a contact that occurred well before Guessand’s decisive shot, the video was not considered necessary to judge Lacazette’s marking “technique” on his 2nd goal. »

But that’s not all, according to Nice leaders. “The images being particularly telling, they would undoubtedly also have been useful to protect Mohamed-Ali Cho, victim of a spectacular charge from Tagliafico before leaving the field,” they continued. Ćaleta-Car will not travel empty on Sofiane Diop in the second period either. Two interventions which will have left the refereeing body unmoved, like the one on Guessand. An impunity that raises questions. »

Faced with this observation, OGC Nice decided to take measures and contact the Technical Directorate of Arbitration and the LFP to “obtain answers to its questions, in particular by accessing the sound recording of the exchanges between the referee and VAR. »

“Explanations which, depending on the country and the sport, are public. Clarifications on the assessment of these situations are expected in Nice. To understand, finally. If this is possible…”, concludes the club, visibly very bitter.
