Helmarit gets this kind of money from his place in the European Championship

Three years ago, Palloliitto netted 600,000 euros for a place in the EC final tournament. Now there should be even more money.

Helmets beat Scotland 2–0 in Helsinki and qualified for the European Championships in Switzerland next summer.

The final tournament place – the Fifth in Helmarie’s history – means a hefty prize pool for the Balloliitto coffers.

How plush, it’s still not completely certain.

Three years ago, 600,000 euros went into the Pallloliitto’s coffers from the European Championship tournament in England.

General Secretary of the Football Association Marco Casagrande believes that in Switzerland the participation bonus is paid more than three years ago.

“The trend is clearly that the prize money is increasing. There was also a significant increase on Fifa’s side,” says Casacrande.

Fifa the increase referred to by the Palloliito boss was wild. The prize pool distributed by Fifa to the teams in last year’s World Cup was a total of 104 million euros, while it was still 28.5 million euros in the 2019 games.

If Uefa were to make a similar 264 percent increase, Palloliitto would net more than two million euros from the Helmarie competition venue.

Casagrande does not believe in such a large increase.

It is also telling that Uefa doubled the prize money for the 2022 European Championship in England compared to the previous European Championship in Holland.

Uefa will draw the groups of the European Championships on December 16. Before that, the UEFA board will meet.

“I’m pretty sure that the prize money will probably be decided at the UEFA board meeting.”

In effect according to the existing national team contract, Palloliitto will pay a third of the prize pool to the players.

Three years ago, it was 8,000 euros per player.

It is likely that every helmari heading to the European Championships will receive at least 10,000 euros this time.
