Atalanta at the top, waiting for Napoli-Lazio. Milan beaten 2-1

A goal from Lookman three minutes from the 90th minute gives Atalanta another huge success against Milan, in the Serie A match on Friday. It ends 2-1 at the Gewiss Stadium with the Nigerian’s late blaze, after the back and forth in the first half between the former De Ketelaere and Morata. Ninth victory in a row in the championship for Giampiero Gasperini’s team, which continues to fly and momentarily enjoys the top spot at +2 over Napoli, awaiting the other key match of the day between the Neapolitans and Lazio. Paulo Fonseca’s men, however, are unable to find continuity and for now remain -6 from the Champions League zone, suffering their fourth defeat.

It was a sparkling start to the match in Bergamo, with the Rossoneri creating the first scoring opportunity after just 17 seconds with Pulisic, launched by Musah and providentially blocked by Carnesecchi. The Nerazzurri responded immediately with Pasalic who shot high from a few steps, then Morata’s possible Milan advantage was canceled out as he was caught offside on Emerson’s pass. In the 12th minute, however, the home team made it 1-0 with the great former player De Ketelaere, who headed over Theo (at the limits of regularity) and scored on De Roon’s free-kick. Ten minutes pass and the guest’s immediate equalizer arrives: Theo quickly launches Leao, who strips Bellanova’s paint and offers a chocolate to Morata to push only into the net for 1-1.

After the initial outburst the pace slows down slightly and the challenge becomes more tactical: the other two or three dangers before the break are from Bergamo, with Bellanova, Pasalic and Lookman not finding luck.
In the second half the emotions of the first half give way to a more blocked match, which remains very balanced but without any particular scoring opportunities. In the final it was Atalanta who tried with greater conviction and returned to take action, then finding the decisive flash in the 87th minute with Lookman, who headed the ball into the far post after a Samardzic corner cleared by Kolasinac. Before the final whistle Retegui also comes close to scoring a hat trick, but Maignan is good at blocking it one-on-one.
