Even when they are outnumbered, Sturm doesn’t lose their stride, WAC defeated LASK

Bundesliga. Sturm remained undefeated in the fourth game under Jürgen Säumel and celebrated their third success under the interim coach. The Graz team won 3-0 against the WSG Tirol while they were outnumbered, while in the Lavanttal the WAC beat the LASK 2-1 and thus secured their fourth win in a row against the Linz team.

The focus in Tyrol was someone who was probably on the pitch for Sturm for the last time: Jusuf Gazibegovic is said to be in agreement with the German second division club Cologne. The Bosnian defender is suspended for the Champions League game in Lille.

The Graz offensive people, on the other hand, were also the focus – and especially two Danes. Biereth served his compatriot William Böving ideally and he didn’t miss the chance after a quarter of an hour. The Styrians stayed on the trigger before Chukwuani weakened his team in the 42nd minute: first he threw the ball away, then he criticized the referee. The logical formula: yellow + yellow = march off. And Sturm had to play more than half with one man less. But the Tyroleans couldn’t capitalize on it, first Böving hit the crossbar (73′), then Seedy Jatta ten minutes before the end and Malick Yalcouyé (85′) put the famous cap on it with a wonderful goal. But the WSG had already been weakened after yellow and red for Üstündag (72nd).

The game in Carinthia began with a moment of shock; LASK also had a (short-term) defender leave, and Ziereis was injured after just one minute.

Cold shower

Otherwise, the first 43 minutes were rather uneventful. With the temperatures adjusted to the season, LASK acted ice-cold shortly before the break: Flecker kept an overview and fed Max Entrup, who pushed Linz into the lead. However, the Carinthians recovered from the cold shower and benefited from an own goal from Talivierov two minutes after the restart. And just three minutes later, the Carinthian fans’ hearts warmed when 18-year-old Slovenian Erik Kojzek headed the lead, which lasted until the end.
