Furacão had suffered three charges: throwing objects, attempting to invade the field and general disorder after losing the game to their direct rival.

Athletico was acquitted in the matter of the attempted invasion and also in disorder. According to the STJD’s understanding, the club’s measures with the security forces proved to be sufficient to contain the fans.

Furthermore, the Disorder in the Ligga Arena could result in the loss of field command. What freed Athletico from conviction was the identification of 12 people involved in the episode.

“It is a significant number of people involved in the chaos and shows the concrete effort and action of the club in avoiding this type of demonstration, in addition to the campaigns we saw”, declared auditor Dr. Pedro Gounet in the vote as rapporteur.

Athletico is condemned for throwing

Videos from the broadcasts show Bragantino players being hit by glasses and liquids thrown by Athletico fans. The images were evaluated and served as the basis for Furacão’s conviction, despite the defense claiming that the stadium announcer asked more than once for nothing to be thrown.

In the complaint made in the game summary, three separate occasions of throwing were observedwith Bragantino athletes being hit in two of them.

Since article 79 points out that clubs are responsible for any inappropriate conduct by a group of fans, the club was fined R$5,000 for each occasion. In this way, Athletico was punished by R$15 thousand.

Despite the vote for conviction, Gounet pointed out that the last time Athletico had been condemned for throwing goals was in August 2023.

“This shows that the club has made an effort. This shows the interest in avoiding this type of disorder, which ruins our Brazilian football”, added the STJD auditor.

Finally, Bragantino was judged to have delayed returning to the pitch after the break. For this reason, the São Paulo club was fined R$1,000.
