The match of the 16th matchday of Serie A between Juventus and Venezia ended in a draw, 2-2. The lagoon players were one step away from victory but a penalty at the end of Vlahovic’s last added time it allowed the Old Lady to win their fourth draw in a row and their tenth in this championship. After an initial phase without too many shocks, it was Juventus who broke the deadlock with Gatti: the Piedmontese defender, scoring his first goal of the season, took advantage of Thuram’s header from a corner kick from the left by Koopmeiners and left him alone in front at the goal all he had to do was push the ball into the net.
At the half hour guests close to equalising: from a pass by Pohjanpaolo, the ball landed at the feet of Andersen who chipped the crossbar with a shot from the edge of the box. Juventus struggled in the second half of the half and Venezia became familiar with the match by regularly appearing in the Juventus half of the pitch. At the start of the second half, after four minutes, Juventus had doubled their lead with a goal that was almost a photocopy of the one in the first half but Yildiz’s final touch was spoiled by a handball that forced referee Giua to cancel it.
With the hosts who they failed on a couple of other occasions to find the right finish it was Venezia who equalized in the 16th minute: from a precise cross from the right by Zampano it was Ellertsson who escaped Savona’s marking and headed past Di Gregorio to score his second goal in Serie A. Cold shower for the hosts seven minutes from the end when on a free kick from the former Nicolussi Cavigilia it was Idzes who jumped higher than anyone and headed past Di Gregorio but in full recovery, in the 50th minute, it was Vlahovic who equalized from a penalty following a handball by Candela after a previous shot by Conceicao was rejected by Stankovic.
