Leon Draisaitl reaches “milestone” in Oilers win

The German ice hockey star Leon Draisaitl has reached the mark of 900 scoring points in his career in the North American ice hockey league. Draisaitl distributed three assists in the Edmonton Oilers’ 3-2 (0-2, 1-0, 1-0) home win after overtime against the Boston Bruins.

“That feels good. Of course I’m proud of myself, but you can’t reach milestones like this without your teammates,” said Draisaitl. In the first minute of extra time, Draisaitl was denied by the Bruins goalkeeper, but Mattias Ekholm scored the winning goal for Edmonton.

The Oilers had saved themselves in overtime with Connor McDavid’s 2-2 equalizer two and a half minutes before the end of the third period. Draisaitl now has 50 scoring points this season and leads the league along with Colorado’s Nathan MacKinnon.

Tim Stützle sets up Ottawa’s winning goal

Tim Stützle also won with the Ottawa Senators after overtime, and the Senators were also successful at the Calgary Flames with 3:2 (1:1, 0:0, 1:1). Stützle set up Brady Tkachuk’s winning goal after 55 seconds in overtime, giving Stützle, like Draisaitl, 27 assists this season.

Lukas Reichel won with the Chicago Blackhawks against the Seattle Kraken 3-1 (0-0, 1-0, 2-1), but remained without a goal. This is the first time the Blackhawks have won three games in a row this season. Philipp Grubauer was not in goal for the Kraken.

Nico Sturm, however, had to accept his third defeat in a row with the San Jose Sharks. The Sharks lost 2:4 (0:1, 2:0, 0:3) at home against the Colorado Avalanche. Sturm also had no involvement in the goal, and the Sharks conceded three goals within seven and a half minutes in the final third.
