Heavy snow prevents the combined athletes from ski jumping

Heavy snowfall prevented both ski jumping rounds in the Nordic Combined in Ramsau am Dachstein and deprived the German athletes of the chance of a better result. The competition was held in an unusual format with a cross-country skiing mass start at the start. In the afternoon, however, jumps were no longer possible on the normal hill in Austria due to the weather.

“It’s a very, very unfortunate thing. The boys fought brutally. It’s annoying that the weather is playing along like this,” said national coach Eric Frenzel on ARD. Instead, the so-called PCR jumps were used, which were completed on Thursday and then broadcast on TV as a recording.

“We don’t have to hide”

The day’s victory among the men went to the Norwegian Jarl Magnus Riiber. Behind him came his compatriot Jens Luuras Oftebro and Kristjan Ilves from Estonia. “I am happy with my boys. In the end, the Norwegians showed that they are also strong runners. “But we don’t have to hide,” said Frenzel.

Ida Marie Hagen from Norway won the women’s event. Nathalie Armbruster came fourth as the best German.
