Jasmi Joensuu became emotional and burst into tears – she thanked her loved ones

Jasmi Joensuu took second place at the opening of the Tour de Ski. Joensuu arrived in Toblach on Saturday Jessie Digginsin on the heels of his career’s first place in the World Cup, and the achievement sensitized the skier who announced his retirement at Christmas.

Joensuu was moved to tears at the finish of the race and again in the interview area when he thought of the people he wanted to thank for his achievement.

“We would have to thank so many people that it would take the whole day,” Joensuu said.

“Family, loved ones, ex-spouse.”

Joensuu’s speech broke into tears. The best World Cup result of my career obviously brought back many memories.

“Ex has seen my entire career for five years. I am grateful for those years”, Joensuu explained his sensitivity.

Joensuu said that he slept badly at night, so the award place came as a surprise after his troubles, although he has been aiming for a top three finish for a long time.

“Athletes also have the challenges of normal life. I’ve been through things that are bigger than skiing,” Joensuu continued.

At the same time, Joensuu felt that trials could also promote athletic success.

“It hasn’t been easy, but I’ve believed that skiing will keep me together. It culminated in today. It could be that it was good when my thoughts weren’t too much on skiing.”

Dobbiaco at the ski stadium, the Finnish team gathered for a group photo around Joensuu. There were no bigger celebrations planned because the Tour de Ski continues on Sunday with a joint start of 15 kilometers of traditional skiing.

“You can’t disturb others. Maybe I’ll celebrate in my room by myself”, Joensuu guessed when he had calmed down.

In the nine-day, seven-start Tour, Joensuu focuses on each day and race at a time. He didn’t set himself an overall goal, even though he got a dream start in the racing series.

“Skiing now felt easy. I was able to control the skis in the heats from the top, and the skiing was really strong even in the final. This was close to full ten”, Joensuu recounted the events of the competition.

“At the same time, I was able to show myself that I can also achieve results in freestyle skiing. It has developed a lot over the years, and I like free even more than traditional.”
