Striker Caio Matheus, who belongs to São Paulo, should be made official as a new signing for the club Coritiba in the next few hours. The negotiation was initially announced by ge.globo and confirmed by OneTwo Sports.
The 20-year-old player is already in Curitiba to take exams at the Graciosa CT before being officially announced.
Despite his ties to the São Paulo club, Caio Matheus only played two games for São Paulo’s main team. He even scored a goal, against Ayacucho, in the 2022 Copa Sudamericana.
However, the striker suffered a serious knee injury while playing for the Brazilian under-20 team. Since then, he returned to play for São Paulo’s under-20 team, where he participated in winning the Brazilian Cup in the category.
In 2024, Caio Matheus scored four goals and provided five assists in 41 games played.
Coritiba signings for 2025
Coxa has already announced three signings so far. The first was striker Guilherme Dellatorre, Mirassol’s top scorer and who played for rival Athletico.
At Christmas, Coritiba confirmed the return of right-back Rafinha. At 39 years old, the player returns to Alto da Glória 20 years after being sold to European football.
Midfielder Geovane was the last player signed by Coritiba. The 35-year-old player was at Novorizontino and it was a request from coach Mozart.
In addition, Alviverde is also negotiating the arrival of two other defenders – Rodrigo Moledo, ex-Internacional, and Maicon, who belongs to Vasco da Gama.
