Badosa is eliminated against Avanesyan in the second round of Brisbane

The Spanish tennis player Paula Badosa was eliminated this Tuesday in the second round of the Brisbane tournament, in the WTA 500 category that is played on a hard surface, after losing to the Armenian tennis player Elina Avanesyan, number 43 in the WTA ranking, in a match that decided in the third set after more than two hours of duration.

Paula Badosa has debuted with a defeat in the season. The Spanish tennis player, seeded number four in the tournament, could not overcome Avanesyan in her debut in Brisbane, who was seen to have more competitive pace. Furthermore, the Spaniard only found the best sensations with her serve in the second set of the match, in which she went over the Armenian. However, the doubts returned in the final set, in which he was barely able to add two games.

The match started with Paula Badosa putting pressure on the rest in the first game, in which she wasted up to six break options, which in the end would be the only ones in the first set. The one who would take advantage of her opportunity in a very close set was the Armenian, who in the eighth game of the match broke Badosa’s serve to deal the final blow to the set (6-3). But the Spanish would react in the second set, in which she gave Avanesyan no chance with a resounding 6-1.

However, the match would become complicated again for the Gironi in the final set. There, the Armenian once again took the lead on the scoreboard from the start with a 4-0 run in which she broke Badosa’s serve twice. A distance that, despite the effort to equal it, was decisive for the set (6-2) and the match, which the Armenian ended up winning after two hours and four minutes of play.
