Leader Kraft weakens in ÖSV triple victory

Stefan Kraft and the ski jump in Garmisch-Partenkirchen – that’s a sorry story. The ski flying world record holder doesn’t have such a difficult time on any other mountain like in Garmisch, where he hasn’t wanted to fly for years.

6, 18, 28, 13, 49, 31, 30 – Kraft’s results in the New Year’s competition speak volumes. Things also went well for the 31-year-old in qualifying on Tuesday not as desired.

With a jump of 131 meters, Stefan Kraft “only” landed in eleventh position after flying 140 meters in the first training session.

If the competition had been on Tuesday, then Kraft would have lost his tour leadership. “It wasn’t a special jump,” said the 31-year-old.

Despite the leader’s weakness, the Austrians celebrated a triple victory in qualifying. Jan Hörl (137.5m) was the best ahead of Daniel Tschofenig (136.5m) and Michael Hayböck (138.5m).
