DHB team starts preparations for the World Cup without a quartet

Germany’s handball players started preparing for the World Cup without a quartet. In addition to the Olympic heroes Julian Köster and Renars Uscins, Franz Semper and Nils Lichtlein were also missing for health reasons, as the German Handball Association confirmed to the German Press Agency. “Kicker”, among others, had previously reported.

The four players are expected to join in the next few days. Replacement Tim Zechel, who was nominated to replace the injured Jannik Kohlbacher, will travel to the DHB team on Saturday.

Since this Friday, national coach Alfred Gislason and his protégés have been preparing for the World Cup in Hamburg. The program also includes two international test matches against Brazil on January 9th and 11th. At the World Cup, the DHB selection will face Poland, Switzerland and the Czech Republic in the preliminary round.
