Vendée Globe: the rankings for Friday January 3 in the evening, with the Dalin and Richomme battle continuing

Charlie Dalin and Yoann Richomme continued their mano a mano at the head of the Vendée Globe this Friday evening, the first having very slightly increased his lead during the day while the two sailors will return to the trade winds, winds that they are impatiently awaiting. At 7 p.m., Dalin (Macif Santé Prévoyance) was nearly 66 nautical miles ahead of Richomme (Paprec Arkéa), almost fifteen more than at 7 a.m.

After crossing a zone of light wind, the two leaders on their way to the Equator will be able to accelerate again, with winds expected “at around 13 knots during the night” according to the race forecasters. The gap of some 350 nautical miles risks widening with third, Sébastien Simon (Groupe Dubreuil), who has chosen the option of heading north along the Brazilian coast and who should soon also benefit from the trade winds.

For their part, Romain Attanasio (Fortinet Best Western, 14th) and Damien Seguin (Groupe Apicil, 15th) have crossed Cape Horn which Jean Le Cam (Everything begins in Finistère – Armor Lux, 16th) should overtake him this Saturday.
