The Monitoring Commission of the Coordination Agreement between the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) and LaLiga has decided not to grant the federative license to the FC Barcelona footballers Dani Olmo and Pau Víctor, who therefore will not be able to be registered by the team Barcelona and they will be free.
“The Monitoring Commission agrees not to grant the prior visa or the definitive license requested by FC Barcelona for the players Daniel Olmo Carvajal and Pau Víctor Delgado in accordance with the literal interpretation of articles 130.2 and 141.5 of the General Regulations of the RFEF that prevent a player whose license is canceled from being able, in the course of the same season, to obtain a license in the same team of the club to which he was already linked,” the two organizations stated this Saturday in a joint statement.
LaLiga confirmed that the culé entity complied on January 3, 2025 with “the requirements regarding economic control” of the competition and that therefore the LaLiga Budget Validation Body has decided to extend the cost limit for the sports team. However, the two entities have chosen not to return the licenses that were withdrawn from the two players on December 31 “after analysis of the applicable federal regulations.”
December 31 was the last day to register players, so their registrations are out of date. In this way, neither of the two footballers will be able to play in any competition, neither with the Barça team nor with the Spanish national team.
The next steps for FC Barcelona could be to appeal the decision before the Sports Administrative Court (TAD) of the Higher Sports Council (CSD) or even try to reverse the decision through ordinary justice.
