Two-time double Olympic champion Francesco Friedrich took his third two-man bobsleigh victory in the fourth race. With his world champion pusher Alexander Schüller, the man from Pirna relegated Adam Ammour from BRC Thuringia to second place on the track in Winterberg with a lead of 0.21 seconds. Johannes Lochner, who last won in Sigulda, completed the German triple success with Joshua Taschen as the pusher.
“In the second run the curve was wrong, otherwise it was okay,” said Friedrich, who improved his own track record to 54.05 seconds in the first run.
Strong Ammour comeback after a fall
Ammour, who had a serious fall in the four-man bobsleigh during training and also had to abandon the two-man bobsleigh World Cup in Sigulda after three falls in a row, made an impressive comeback with Benedikt Hertel. “It was a very strong fall here, so I didn’t know how to manage my head. But it was a great comeback,” said Ammour, who was faster than world champion Friedrich both at the start and on the track in the second round.
