Stadlober and Vermeulen with strong performances at Tour de Ski

In the Ski Tour Austria’s first podium place in the overall ranking awaits. Mika Vermeulen takes the last stage in Fiemme Valley to Alpe Cermis Attacking third and brimming with drive and self-confidence.

“Only ten seconds are missing from second place. “I’m confident that it will work out,” says the 25-year-old Styrian.

On the penultimate day, Mika Vermeulen finished fifth in the 20-kilometer skiathlon. The Austrian led the field for long stretches and repeatedly made attacks; it was only in the finish sprint that he had to let four competitors overtake him.

“I was the strongest in the race. Unfortunately, the course of the race didn’t play into my hands,” said Vermeulen. “But I’m in shape and feel really good. In the last stage I’ll go for anything.”

Also Teresa Stadlober was in top form in the skiathlon on Saturday. On one of her favorite trails, the 31-year-old performed better than ever before in the World Cup and achieved one Second place was her best career result. With a long lunge, Stadlober left her fellow competitors behind in the finish sprint. “It’s just amazing,” says Stadlober.
