Julia Scheib led the race to catch up in fourth place

Sara Hector showed her brilliance on icy slopes in the World Cup giant slalom Kranjska Gora demonstrated. After a superior run time in the first round, the Swede confidently clinched her seventh World Cup victory in giant slalom. As was already the case at Semmering Julia Scheib a comeback in the second round. After finishing 13th in the first run, she finished fourth with her best running time. She still viewed her run critically: “I had problems finding grip and tried to do it in a brutal way. Icy slopes are still a construction site for me.”

We also made up places Ricarda Haaser and Stephanie Brunner. Haaser ended up 14th. Brunner was ill for a few days recently. In the first run she “cleaned up her body”, in the second she improved to 17th place: “I’m missing the last two or three percent, a little self-confidence and the last bit of looseness.”

After the first run, Julia Scheib was in ORF-Interview nor the preparation was criticized. “We have two days of training on ice (so far) – that’s simply not enough. We have to train more, especially I have to train more,” the recovered Scheib explained bluntly. “As I was driving, I noticed that I wasn’t getting up to speed. That’s not fast and that’s why I’m behind in time.” The Styrian came to Slovenia with the best running time in the second Semmering round, although the conditions were completely different.

Coach Perner “pissed off”

The RTL special trainer contradicted this Christian Perner violently: “I’m pissed off, we just have to give it more gas. We trained for exactly that at the Reiteralm. We had pig paralysis today.”

For the first time since 2020 there was at least one World Cup point for Argentina. Francesca Baruzzi Farriol qualified for race two and after a few mistakes came 30th and last. However, the Austrians Liensberger, Gritsch and Huber were not there at all in the second round.
