Kerttu Niskanen: Tour de Ski prize money

Ski Tour culminated on Sunday in the traditional way in Cavalese, Italy, with the final ascent stage of Alpe Cermis.

Kerttu Niskanen was the best Finn on the tour for the third year in a row. This time his final ranking was fourth.

Niskanen collected a nice amount of prize money for his performance. 25,000 Swiss francs were awarded for fourth place in the Tour. On top of that came a total of 4,000 francs from the podium positions in the individual stages, 1,000 francs for third place in the Tour race and 1,000 francs for sixth place in the sprint race.

In total, Niskanen earned 31,000 francs in prize money, or about 33,000 euros.

Niskanen fell out of the top three in the last stage on Saturday. It cost him around 16,000 euros, because there are huge differences in the prize money of the top places in the Tour.

Tour winner Therese Johaug Kahmi won 85,000 francs from the alpine tour. When the money for the individual stages is added on top of that, Johaug’s prize pool rose to around 100,000 euros.

The most empty other Finns don’t have to go home with pockets either. On the Tour, prize money is distributed to the top 20 overall results.

The Finns also reached this chess Krista Pärmäkoski (9.), Jasmi Joensuu (15.) and Arsi Ruuskanen (19.).

Ruuskanen’s wallet stretched by 1,600 euros and Pärmäkoski’s by 9,600 euros.

Joensuu also finished second in the Tour’s internal sprint cup, which earned him a 5,000 franc bonus. In addition to that, he received 2,000 francs for his second place in the Toblach sprint and 3,500 for the overall ranking.

Joensuu’s prize pool was therefore a total of 10,500 francs, or 11,200 euros.
