Tschofenig wins tour, final drama for strength

It’s kind of a shame that Daniel Tschofenig, Stefan Kraft and Jan Hörl no joint precision landing on the highest podium was achieved. It would be a worthy ending memorable tour that will find its entry in the history books of ski jumping.

Because never before has a team dominated the Four Hills Tournament as much as they did this time Austrians: With triple victories in Oberstdorf, Innsbruck and Bischofshofen, with four daily successes, with eleven out of twelve possible podium places.

And to top it off: With three ÖSV Eagles on the podium in the overall ranking.

Tschofenig gets the first ÖSV victory in 10 years

It was then left to the youngest member of the group to pull off the big coup. Daniel Tschofenig followed Stefan Kraft as the first Austrian tour winner in ten years.

And it was a very close race, the likes of which this event has never experienced in its 73-year history.

Tschofenig won the tour thriller in Bischofshofen and thus also the overall ranking because he made the fewest mistakes in the final. While he was sailing to 140.5 meters, colleague Jan Hörl (143m) missed his landing.

And Stefan Kraft showed nerves as half-time leader – after a lot of bad luck with the wind.

He was just full of strength and before his next big career leap Competition interrupted for a few minutes. This visibly threw the Salzburgers off course.

Kraft botched his jump (137.5) and was passed through to third place. “That certainly wasn’t fair, but it’s part of our sport,” complains Kraft.

Tschofenig is the laughing third on a historic tour. “So much has happened in a short time. I still can’t believe it,” says the Carinthian.
