The killer of the Gaudreau brothers refused the prosecutor’s offer

Higgins told the police that he drank six beers before getting behind the wheel. As a result, the blood alcohol concentration (0.89 per thousand) was above the legal limit.

According to the police accident investigation, Higgins was trying to pass two cars on a two-lane road. The previous car gave space to the brothers on bikes on the same platform.

Higgins swerved to the side where space had been given, partially veered off the road and collided with the cyclists. Both died instantly.

According to the police, Higgins drove a few hundred meters after the accident until he had to stop due to the damage to the car.

The suspect admitted that he tried to hide the empty beer cans in his car from the police.

Higgins has been in custody since the accident.
