Victory and leadership in the World Cup

Austria’s skeleton ace Janine Flock won the World Cup race in St. Moritz and thus took the lead in the overall standings. The Tyrolean won on Friday in the Swiss winter sports resort ahead of the Belgian Kim Meylemans (+0.18 seconds) and the Brazilian Nicole Rocha Silveira (+0.29) and celebrated her twelfth World Cup success. Flock is reaching for her third crystal ball, with only the World Cup final on February 7th in Lillehammer remaining.

Flock set the best time in both runs and thus demonstrated her current top form. For the 35-year-old, it was the second victory in a row after the triumph in Winterberg a week ago. Since the previous World Cup leader Hannah Neise from Germany only finished 14th, Flock took the lead after seven of eight competitions with 1,390 points, 90 points ahead of Neise. 21-year-old Annia Unterscheider came 25th in St. Moritz (+3.36 seconds).
