Odermatt celebrates its premiere in Kitzbühel, Haaser at comeback on the podium

Marco Odermatt Has his still outstanding “Mission Golden Gams” in the first race of the Hahnenkamm weekend in Kitzbühel fulfilled. The Swiss high-flyer won the Super-G on the streak in front of the Tyrolean on Friday Raphael Haaserwho made a racing comeback to measure after a break. Only 11/100 was missing from the Haaser, which was rushing on the target slope, on the top favorites.

Haaser prevented a Swiss triple victory in World Cup history in the 250th Super-G overshadowed by falls, rank third to Stefan Rogentin (+0.30 seconds), fourth became young star Franjo von Allmen (+0.45). Stefan Eichberger took 13th place as the second best Austrian. Vincent Kriechmayr decided in the morning after entering a lightning comeback in the Gamsstadt.

Haaser had overstretched a cruciate ligament in the giant slalom of Val d’Isere in mid-December and only decided to start a Kitz start after passing the stress test on Thursday. “I live a good three quarters of an hour away from there, that’s really a home race from me. You have been watching since childhood and fever and of course wants to take a chamois like that, ”Haaser told ORF. “I wanted to attack from the start to the destination, I succeeded quite well.” The reward was his fourth Stockerlplatz (always 2) and 50,000 euros (gross) prize money.

The crisis-ridden ÖSV Speedmänner expanded their track record on the streak thanks to Haaser. In the 22nd Kitzbüheler Super-G there was at least one Austrian on the podium for the 21st time. Odermatt, previously without Kitz-Sieg, celebrated his 44th success in the World Cup and expanded the lead in the overall World Cup. “It was a solid run, that’s exactly what it needed today,” he said relieved. However, his object of desire is the traditional Hahnenkamm exit on Saturday (11.30 a.m.). “Clearly to win the departure here is a big goal of this season,” said Odermatt.

For Lukas Feurstein, the “test pilot” with the start number 1, the Kitz premiere was already over in the upper part. The third of Beaver Creek threaded in a goal after a place peppered with blows with the crossed outdoor ski. A ski opened. “It hurts a bit. I hope it is not too bad, a ski clock bruise or something, ”said Feurstein. He wants to be back in Schladming.

The following break was a foretaste of the competition, and the runners had to keep calm a few times after departure. Hemetsberger did not achieve a bad trip, but the Swiss colleagues were much more brutal. Odermatt made a famous ride with small difficulties in the larch shot with the 8. The teeth bit about allmen and rogens. Odermatt had to tremble at Haaser, who continued faster and faster at the lower part.

The streak showed her teeth again. Dominik Paris, a Kitz specialist with four wins, and Alexis Pinturault caused frightened seconds with falls at the “Feuerstein” position. While the South Tyrolean was able to drive independently, the French may have caught it more seriously. Pinturault, most recently out of action because of a cruciate ligament tear, reached the twisted knee and was flown out with the helicopter. Wife of novels that were waiting with her daughter in her arm at the finish line, shocked her hand. For the Frenchman Florian Loriot, the helicopter also had to start shortly afterwards.

Otmar Striedinger also caused an interruption. The Carinthian Streif lover cleared the narrowly adjacent gangs and fishing nets after a blinding in the Oberhausberg journey, but then drove moments into the finish. “The course net found the blows very well,” said Striedinger dryly. “I feel the ribs, but everything half as bad.”

Around 90 minutes after the start of the race there were only 25 runners at the finish line. The result: from the traverse shadow spreading upwards and a clear disadvantage for runners with higher numbers. The number 27, the 24-year-old Styrian Eichberger (+0.85), rushed to the finish line. He said: “It was a solid journey, it is certainly one of the more difficult Super-G of the season.”
