Ski: Terrible fall of Alexis Pinturault at Kitzbühel super-G, the French Halitreuillé

Terrible series for French skiing. After the serious fall of Cyprien Sarrazin at the end of December, this Friday it was Alexis Pinturault who fell during the Kitzbühel superg.

While he had given up Bormio’s super-G in particular, not considering herself in a state to run, Pinturault, who had recently denounced the safety conditions of skiers, was hurt the right knee. He was evacuated as a helicopter.

Alexis Pinturault returned this season from a serious left knee injury after a fall in Wengen in January 2024.

The dark day did not stop there. The Frenchman Florian Loriot also lost his balance in the same turn and had to abandon. The first competitor to start on Friday morning, the Austrian Lukas Feurstein had also dropped in this sector. “This passage was hard to manage, it tapped enormously,” commented Nils allegre after his 14th place. Matthieu Bailet then also dropped in the same place, without gravity. Nils Alphand also fell, but without gravity, in the second part of the course after a superb start to the race. Pinturault and Loriot were transported to Saint Johann hospital, about ten kilometers from Kitzbühel and are currently taking exams.

The Swiss Marco Odermatt won the race and promises to be the big favorite of this Saturday’s descent, its objective of the season. Under a bright sun, Odermatt, 27, has ahead of Austrian Raphael Haaser (at 11/100th) and the Swiss Stefan Rogentin (at 30/100th) in this race which he considered an opportunity to recognize part of the Legendary Streific before the descent.
