Eintracht Frankfurt: Wahi instead of Marmoush

Bundesliga soccer club Eintracht Frankfurt presented a successor just one day after the departure of top scorer Omar Marmoush and secured the next offensive promise for the future. As the club announced on Friday evening, French U23 international Elye Wahi is joining the Hessians with immediate effect. The 22-year-old striker comes to Frankfurt from French first division club Olympique Marseille and signed a contract until 2030.

“We have been working with Elye Wahi for a long time and we are pleased that he will be playing for Eintracht Frankfurt from now on,” said sports director Markus Krösche: “Elye is a fast-paced striker with a good boxing ability and a strong goal instinct. He is a young and promising player whose qualities we are convinced of. At the same time, we are giving him the necessary time to adapt.” Wahi is “happy to be at Eintracht from now on. This is a big club that I’ve heard a lot of positive things about. It quickly became clear to me that I wanted to take the opportunity and come here,” said the Frenchman. He wants to “repay the club’s trust with good performances and goals.”

On Thursday, striker Marmoush’s departure to English champions Manchester City for 75 million euros plus five million euros in bonus payments became official. Wahi should close the gap left by the Egyptian (15 Bundesliga goals this season). Wahi made his professional debut at the age of 17 with Montpellier HSC in the French Ligue 1.
