Sara Piffer, 19 year old cyclist who died while training: the accident

E’ Cyclist Sara Piffer died at the age of 19hit by a car during a training session in Trentino. The young cyclist died, despite help, due to the injuries she suffered after a 70-year-old driving a car hit her in front of her brother who was accompanying her on the roads of Trentino. Since last year Piffer has been playing in the ranks of the Continental Mendelspeck team.

“I am deeply saddened by the tragic death of Sara Piffer, a promising young cyclist from Trentino who lost her life in a terrible accident while training. – writes Maurizio Fugatti, president of the autonomous province of Trento on Facebook – In this moment of immense pain, my thoughts go to her family, friends and the entire community who had the privilege of knowing her.”

Fugatti is echoed, again on social media, by the Italian professional cyclists’ association: “our thoughts go to the family of this member of ours, to the GS Mendelspeck, to her teammates in the group and to all those who today are torn apart by the pain of yet another life broken by road violence”.
