Carolina Robles and Yahya Aouina, Spanish cross country champions

The athletes Carolina Robles and Yahya Aouina have been crowned Spanish cross country champions in the 107th edition of the Spanish Cross Country Championships for individuals and regional federations, which was held this Sunday at Cerro de los Ángeles, in Getafe (Madrid). ).

In a single circuit of about 2,000 meters in length in which the absolute athletes had to do five laps, the Sevillian Carolina Robles met expectations and defended her title achieved last year after completing the test, remaining at the head of the race at all times. Robles has won the last four championships he has competed in.

After her, the Ugandan Aciru Knight reached the finish line, out of competition and representing Castilla-La Mancha, while the Basque Mayida Maayouf and the Castilian-Leonese Ángela Viciosa won the silver and bronze, respectively.

Andalusia won the regional federations, winning the title for the first time in history represented by Robles, Fátima Ouhaddou, Claudia Estévez, Tamara Pérez, Belén Infantes and Noelia Valenzuela. Castilla y León won silver, the same as in 2024, and Castilla-La Mancha, last year’s champion, won bronze.

In the absolute men’s event, where the Burundian Rodrigue Kwizera -representing the Comunitat Valenciana but who did not count for the individual result as he did not have Spanish nationality- dominated from start to finish and crossed the finish line first, Yahya Aouina, representing Castilla and León, as a resident of Soria, gave the surprise by jumping out of the chasing group to overtake the Catalan Abdessamad Oukhelfen, who had to settle for silver. The also Catalan Aarón Las Heras won the bronze.

The team title went to Catalonia, bronze in 2024 and which formed with Oukhelfen, Las Heras, Ilias Fifa, Santiago Catrofe, Ayad Lamdassem – three-time individual champion – and Marc Fernández. The Comunitat Valencia, first last year, and Castilla y León occupied the other two boxes.
