Davis Cup: Belgian Zizou Bergs famous and jostles Cristian Garin, the Chilean requests disqualification

A funny stage, this Sunday in the Davis Cup. If Belgium beat Chile three victories at one, its ultimate point is disputed. While the score was 5-5 in the third set of the simple between Zizou Bergs and Cristian Garin, the first managed to break in front of his audience. But by celebrating, he violently struck his opponent.

If Zizou Bergs’ gesture was involuntary, he seriously sounded Cristian Garin. To the point that the latter did not wish to take over the match. His team then asked the referee to disqualify the Belgian, and to give the point of victory to Chile. What the official did not accept, since he was content to warn Zizou Bergs. Finally, the South American team lost on package (6-0, 6-0).

It is therefore in these funny circumstances that Belgium validated its ticket for the second round. The public in the city of Hasselt was a bit surprised. But undoubtedly satisfied by the victory of his team.

During this first round of the Davis Cup, France defeated Brazil, in Orleans (Loiret). The Blues won in three games and will face Croatia next September.
