Hannu Jortikka recalls her last conversation with Miika Elomo

Finnish Ice hockey circles were confronted with a shocking news late Sunday night when the Paris Society Les Jokers de Cergy-Pontoise announced his head coach Miika Elomo47, of sudden death.

Elomo coached in the club for another time.

Another hockey coach from Turku Hannu Jortikka says he has been informed of Elomo’s death on Sunday evening. Jortikka met Elomo in the late 1990s. He coached a couple of teams where Elomo played.

“I was a coach on the youth national team when he became a player there, and I got to know him. Then he moved to Teps I coached and won the championship in 1999. Last season, he had celebrated the championship on the HIFK top team, but wanted to return to Turku, ”Jortikka recalls.

Information about Elomo’s surprising death reached Jortika’s TPS Millennium’s Millennium Arts through the team’s joint WhatsApp group. The first reaction was an unbelievable shock. After all, Elomo had just got married last week.

“He went to Finland last week and got married. When you knew it, this was a bigger shock. I went silent when that information came. Not much was fun to watch the Finnish-Swedish game. ”

Jortica And Elomo was dealing with the WhatsApp group and joint events. During the summer, they met at the old Teps summer party. Last time they met last summer.

“He seemed to be busy with coaching in France. That debate became a good mood. He seemed to enjoy it well there, the club had done well and offered a sequel. Then he has certainly done his job there well. Longer contracts are under the rock in Europe. ”

Jortikka remembers Elomo as a slut in spirit and blood, and as a “live mouse” with no quiet or boring moment.

“Those who knew him know what I was talking about. He was a group of people and teams who enjoyed that bump and bustle. ”

Jortikka hoped that the cause of Elomo’s death would be the right information to stop guessing and speculation. He says he has noticed that such has come across the Internet.

“Maybe it’s a bit reduced when we get to know what really happened. However, he was quite young and I understand in good power. People of the same age may be a little scared. ”

Striker Elomo won the SM League Championship at HIFK in 1998 and TPS in 1999.

Most of his career as a player represented his breeding club TPS. He also later served as TPS head coach.

In his coaching career, Elomo was able to pilot clubs alongside Finland and France in the Norwegian and Poland main series.
