Golf: “I’m not ready”, Tiger Woods prefers to give up Genesis Invitational

Tiger Woods has announced that he would not resume competition this week in Torrey Pines for the Genesis Invitational as initially planned after the death of his mother.

“I had planned to play this week, but I’m just not ready,” wrote the American on social media on Monday. “I did my best to prepare myself, knowing that this is what my mother wanted, but I have not yet digested her loss,” explains the player to the 15 adults.

It should have been his first professional competition since the British Open in July and his first participation in a non -major tournament on the American circuit since he played this same Genesis a year ago. Sick, the American had to abandon after the first round.

In a big home, Woods finished 60th at the Masters and missed the cut in the other three adults last year. The legend of the 49 -year -old golf had struggled to recover between the laps due to back problems and the after -effects of his leg injuries since his car accident in 2021.

Woods underwent a new back operation in September and played with his son Charlie, 15, during a family event, the PNC Championship in Florida in December.

He also participated in the TGL, an indoor competition on the simulator that he launched this year with the North Irish star Rory McILroy.
