Hummels probably back to Germany in summer

According to a media report, ex-world champion Mats Hummels is considering a return to Germany after a year abroad at AS Rome. The Italian newspaper “La Repubblica” reported that the 36-year-old was pulling back close to his family and son. The football routine has a contract with the Serie-A club until the end of the season. He recently said that he wanted to decide on his future in the summer.

Hummels had a very bad start in the Italian capital and was initially not used. It was only under the new coach Claudio Ranieri that the defender made it into the team and became a top performer. “But his future seems to be somewhere else, probably in Germany, to complete his career at a Bundesliga club,” wrote the “Repubblica” that appeared in Rome.

Hummels had played in the Bundesliga for Borussia Dortmund and FC Bayern Munich. He became champion six times and won the DFB Cup four times. In 2013 and 2024 he reached the final of the Champions League twice with BVB, but was unable to win the most important club title in football. For this he became world champion with the German national team in 2014.
