Christian Ebenbauer is an important decision -maker in Austrian football as CEO of the Bundesliga, which has three out of twelve votes in the Presidium of the ÖFB. He has voting rights in the dispute over the two managing directors, whose successor is also traded himself. However, his focus is currently on the TV contract for the Bundesliga, which expires in 2026.
DELIVERY MAN: How do you assess the planned ÖFB structure reform, which is supposed to move skills from honor to the main office?
Christian Ebenbauer: From a league perspective, it says that this reform, as we have been proposing for years, is now going in this direction.
We were initially talking about a three -board member, then interim president Wolfgang Bartosch said that two people would be enough. The suggestions we have brought in is about the strategic and operational level. How the exchange and responsibilities are currently and what it should look like from our point of view. How much in the main office and how much in volunteering should happen that the Presidium should become a supervisory board and that the content issues should be decided by the full -time employees. We have not taken up whether this management should consist of two, three, four or five people. There is the legal minimum standard that prescribes a four -eye principle for clubs in Austria. The respective supervisory board should decide whether it is more. There was a working group in autumn that suggested that there should be three.
What’s next?
The statutes are adjusted accordingly. This was decided on December 20th in the Presidium and is currently happening within the ÖFB by the office. Then the draft goes to the Presidium through the legal commission and is to be decided at the Annual General Meeting in May.
This is a long process.
Therefore, this reform is about slimming and about making the processes more efficient.
From your point of view, what happens to the two managing directors Bernhard Neuhold and Thomas Hollerer? Will you have to go?
This will certainly be a crucial question that will soon be clarified.
