ÖSV-Snowboard Crosser shoot each other at World Cup

Olympic champion Alessandro Hämmerle has in a dramatic decision at the World Cup in the Engadine Bronze im Snowboard-Cross secured.

The Vorarlberger asserted itself on Friday in the four-person final Defending champion Jakob Dusekafter having a hard position struggle with his teammate in the last curve.

Profitors of the red-white-red duel were the victorious Canadian Eliot Grondin and Loan Bozzolo (FROM).

“What happens on the track falls by the wayside,” said Hämmerle afterwards in ORF-Interview. He was annoyed by the unfortunate exit. “It is brutally bitter that we can be passed through. It was great. I have bronze, but I’m extremely sorry for Jakob. It is bad for both of us,” said Hämmerle and described bronze as just a small satisfaction.

Jakob Dusek apparently didn’t hear him when he attacked in the curve. Blech was “extremely bitter” for Dusek. However, he did not want to give his ÖSV colleague to blame. “It already fit. He didn’t have much space. But it is so bitter, we drove so strongly, and then let’s give it a lot of time, it hurts extremely. Nobody likes a fourth place at the World Cup,” said Dusek.

Elias Leitner had left in the first co-round, Lukas Pachner and Julian Lüftner in the quarter-finals. The mixed competition will follow on Saturday.

For Hämmerle it is the second World Cup medal after Silver 2021. The 31-year-old increased the ÖSV medal yield to four pieces in the title fights in Switzerland, a golden one is still pending. In the women’s competition, the ÖSV was no longer represented on the final day after Pia Zerkhold’s qualification. The title went to the Italian Michela Moioli.
