Shortly thereafter, Cann increased after a corner from Nico Schlotterbeck. The gates had not indicated at that time. Both teams largely neutralized and did not consistently play out the less promising situations. The BVB was noticed by the absence of his striker Serhou Guirassy: the striker was missing as a play station, and his representative Beier remained unobtrusive for a long time – until he used his first chance ice cold.

Kehl had in an interview with the Ruhr news the pressure on the players noticeably increases. Those who do not deliver in the final sprint of the season may have no future at BVB. The sports director called for the consequence, consistency and character. In view of the big deficit in the table, a winning streak must now be found. But the rest of the program has it all: Dortmund still has to exist at Bayer Leverkusen and record champions Bayern Munich. The game against Mainz was all the more important for BVB.
