On the occasion of Milan Design Week 2025, Milan Cortina Infrastructure Company and Milan Cortina 2026 Foundation today presented an exclusive installation dedicated to the village of Cortina d’Ampezzo in view of the Olympic and Paralympic games Milan Cortina 2026. The institutional greetings have brought the Undersecretary of State, Alessandro Morelli, the President of the Lombardy Region, Attilio Fontana and the Councilor for Infrastructure Claudia Terzi. At the panel “The architecture and innovation of the Olympic and Paralympic Village Milan Cortina 2026”, Fabio Saldini, government commissioner and CEO of Simico, Andrea Varnier, CEO of Fondazione Milano Cortina, Veronica Vecchi, President Simico, Marie Sollais, Director of the Sustainability Department of Sustainability CIO, Sergio Redaelli, Cripcampeggio, Paolo Beerizzi, professor of Pavia, intervened.
“There is great satisfaction because we were able to face, after seeing the Paris Olympic village, the problem of Cortina accommodation, adapting the technology to the availability of the place” said Fabio Massimo Saldini, commissioner of government and CEO of Simico. “These are 377 Mobile Home where 1,400 athletes and trainers will be hosted in a fantastic place, with the possibility of reusing the houses, sustainable houses elsewhere, made with recycled and universally accessible materials. The ribbon cutting is expected in October”.
On sustainability as the director of the governance of Simico, the president Veronica Vecchi who said: “The goal is to contribute to the spread and consolidation of a modus operandi in the sector of public works based on innovation, environmental sustainability and transparency to generate value for society and its stakeholders”. The installation will be open every day from 10:00 to 19:00, at ADI Design Museum – Piazza del Compasso d’Oro 1, Milan. The event is supported by Crippacampeggio, winner of the public evidence procedure for the construction of the Olympic and Paralympic village of Cortina d’Ampezzo.
