Paris and Barcelona are in the semi -finals

At Borussia Dortmund and Aston Villa in Birmingham, big football miracles and ascent were hoped for in the semi -finals on Tuesday – and dreamed for a while. And that had expected longer than many. Because both outsiders made it exciting again after their clear first leg defeats.

The English won 3: 2 after 1: 3 in Paris – only one goal was missing for extension.

Dortmund said goodbye to the premier class with a 3-1 win against the Catalans after the 0: 4 in Barcelona.

On the island, the big dream of catching up soon seemed to be dreamed of. Aston Villa pressed a quick tour, but was countered. Hakimi dusted after goalie Martinez left the ball (11th). The 2-0 for the French by Mendes also fell from a counterattack (28th). With the total score of 5: 1, everything had to be clear – but it wasn’t.

Tielemans (34th), McGinn (55th) and Konsa (58.) turned the game and it remained exciting to the end. But the favored Frenchman brought the lead from a gate over time.

Triplepack

In Dortmund, hope was nourished by a penalty early. Guirassy pushed the ball into the middle of the gate (11th). It was already the eleventh goal of the striker in the Champions League. Two more came. BVB also managed a lightning start in half two, this time Guirassy hit the head (49.). Barcelona stayed calm and came to the connecting goal through an own goal of Bensebaini.

But the yellow-black dreams lived on. Especially after Guirassy met for the third time (77th). And now Barcelona was something of the role. Julian Brandt scored 4-1, but it didn’t count because he was offside. It stayed 3-1, after 94 minutes coach Hansi Flick was able to take a deep breath with Barcelona.
