Stylist Sohvi Nyman praises Finland’s Olympic costumes for Milan

Luhta designed Finland’s costumes for the Milan Olympics.

Winter Olympics are also a fashion thing, especially in the coming February. The competitions are held in Milan, i.e. the European capital of fashion.

Luhta Sportswear Company presented Finland’s Olympic collection on Wednesday afternoon.

According to Luhta’s press release, the design of the collection was inspired by “Finnish Lapland, its unique nature, silence and the incredibly beautiful blue moment at sunset”.

The outfits of the Finnish competition teams have not always garnered praise.

Stylist and style expert Sofa Nyman admits that he feared the worst when he was asked to evaluate Finland’s Olympic team.

Sohvi Nyman feared the worst, but was pleasantly surprised.

Surprise was quite when he got to the pictures.

“I was really pleasantly surprised. The first thing I thought was that the outfits looked like friezes and were successful,” says Nyman.

“The cuts are really good, and the outfits have a lot of details that you don’t immediately notice. If you look for a while, you’ll find them there.”

Nyman especially likes the uniform line of the collection. He thinks the collection is trendy.

“Often in the past, competition outfits have relied on nostalgia and a barracks or ysäri style. I especially like long tank tops. They are quite stylish, they have that early 2000s style.”

Nyman also likes the gradient color of the vest. He believes that while the competition outfits have received a lot of criticism in the past, now they have learned from the feedback and are looking forward.

The fleece outfit was the only one that stuck out to the stylist.

Finland’s competition outfits are receiving praise.

In the collection is just another weak link in his opinion.

“Those fleece or wool outfits have such a camp spirit. It’s a bit of a stiff style. In other parts of the collection, there is a body-hugging, which brings trendyness. The clothes are not just big tents.”

Nyman finds in the colors and style of the collection what Luhta says he was aiming for.

“These are exactly the kind that you put on and go for a walk in Lapland”, he enthuses.

As a whole, Nyman considers the collection both successful and trendy.
