Bad news for the Füchse Berlin from the camp of the German national handball team: Playmaker Nils Lichtlein suffered a muscle injury in the adductor area during the DHB team’s 42:31 friendly win against Iceland and will be out for the next few weeks. The handball Bundesliga team announced this.
The 23-year-old not only misses the German team’s second test match against Iceland (Sunday, 5.15 p.m./ZDF), but is also out of the upcoming tasks with the Füchse. Lichtlein’s injury is particularly bitter for the already thin Berlin squad. Just a few days ago, backcourt player Fabian Wiede tore his cruciate ligament.
Bob Hanning: “The next bitter setback for us”
“After Fabian Wiede’s failure, this is the next bitter setback for us. Nils had settled in so well after his first injury,” said Füchse managing director Bob Hanning. He hopes that Lichtlein will return to the plate as quickly as possible. “Until then we will fill our professional squad with players from the academy.”
