The Canadian now has 3,595 points, Lorenzo remains stuck at 3,685. Lorenzo forced to play next week too, will ask for wild cards for Athens or Metz
Happy Auger-Also flies to the semi-finals at Paris Masters 1000 and also grab valuable points to qualify for Finals in Turin to the detriment of Lorenzo Musetti. The Canadian, number 10 in the world, beat the Monegasque Valentin Vacherot, number 40 and revelation of the last months of the circuit, in two sets, with a double 6-2 in just under an hour and twenty minutes of play. Auger-Aliassime now has 3,595 points, Musetti remains stationary at 3,685.
Musetti and the race to the ATP Finals
The semi-final won by Auger-Aliassime forces Musetti to ask for a wild card for next week’s ATP 250 (Athens or Metz are the hypotheses, under evaluation). In the semi-final in Paris, the Canadian will now face one of De Minaur or Bublik, with the Kazakh still in the running for a place in Turin. However, if Auger-Aliassime were to win the Masters 1000 in Paris, the Italian would no longer have a chance of qualifying for the Finals.
